At the end of December, there were 1.18 million homes available for sale nationwide, translating to just a 3.3-month supply—a level widely considered tight. Low inventory continues to support home values, even as price growth has slowed.


The median home price in December was $405,400, marking the 30th consecutive month of year-over-year price gains. While the annual increase was modest at 0.4%, it reflects a market that is stabilizing rather than declining.


With fewer homeowners eager to sell and more buyers competing for limited inventory, properties that stand out—those with modern layouts, updated kitchens and bathrooms, energy-efficient systems, and strong curb appeal—command greater attention and stronger offers.
